About Us

Our Mission and Principles

Our mission is to aggregate, organize and share all of the world's legal resources. We intend to achieve this lofty aspiration by cultivating a vibrant and engaged community of people who care about the law, including both lawyers and non-lawyers alike, who will help us build the world's greatest databases of legal resources. Through a steadfast commitment to collaboration, transparency and accessibility, together, we will change the way people interface with the law, improving the quality of legal services industry-wide, reducing inefficiency and increasing access to justice.

Our Service

Jurify is the home for talented attorneys and other professionals involved with the law. Created by experienced lawyers who grew tired of the painfully cloistered way law was practiced, Jurify is a 100% FREE, invitation-only platform that harnesses the collective genius of the very best attorneys to deliver high-quality legal resources in mere seconds.

Our content is contributed by carefully-screened attorney members who share without pay. These lawyers are rewarded with recognition through direct attribution as well as placement in our practice-specific "Top Attorneys" lists. They also earn Achievements designed to showcase their accomplishments and provide additional validation to discriminating clients and employers in search of the best the legal world has to offer.

Through collaboration, Jurify offers unprecedented access to the law and the tools we use to navigate it. Now, no matter what your issue, Jurify is where you start.

Our Story

We have been experiencing a profound liberation of the law since the mid-1990's as growing numbers of resources, from statutes and cases to journal articles and legal forms, have been digitized and posted online. What began as a trickle of digital content, though, has become a torrent, and, today, we are overwhelmed by an ever-expanding body of online law resources. A Google search for even obscure legal concepts yields totally unnavigable results. Take, for example, "stare decisis," which returns over 800,000 hits, or the lesser known "contra proferentem," with over 50,000 results. We suffer an embarrassment of riches—too many options for any individual or small group to make sense of them all.

Little wonder, then, that ultra-high-priced Web 1.0 legal research services continue to command billions of dollars in fees, despite the wealth of free online content. The only alternative to these fees has been to waste hours scouring the Web hoping to find the metaphorical needle in the virtual haystack. Either way, lawyers and clients lose.

In 2010, after more than a decade as a corporate lawyer, our co-founder, Erik Lopez, conceived of a solution: a platform designed to foster collaboration within the legal community. What could not be achieved in isolation would be readily achievable through collective action. The community itself could easily aggregate and organize all of the best free online law content and dramatically reduce our dependence on overpriced curation services.

Erik shared the idea with our co-founder, Nicole Lopez, who is also an accomplished corporate attorney. Nicole immediately recognized Jurify's disruptive potential and embraced the idea. She and Erik began devoting mornings, nights and weekends to building our company while continuing to manage their busy law practices. Over the course of the ensuing 15 months, our co-founders and the rest of our team developed our first-of-its kind system, built a functional prototype and raised outside capital.

Erik and Nicole are now fully dedicated to Jurify, and we launched our private beta with corporate, securities and M&A law resources in August 2012. Our preliminary adoption and usage rates have far exceeded our expectations, and we are working around the clock to broaden our practice area coverage and roll out exciting new features.

Stay tuned!
